STUDIO
The control room was professionally designed by Hugh Pitt and measures 23’ x 17’ with sloped ceilings going from at the front and back to 13’ in the centre.
The live room measures 18’ x 19’ with sloped ceilings going from 8’ at the front and back to 12’ in the centre. The walls are lined with wood and acoustic treatment for a lively but controlled sound.
The dead room measures at 10’ x 11’ x 7’ and has the correct trapping across the whole frequency range. The two isolation booths have the same treatment but measure 4’ x 6’ x 7’
We have ten acoustic screens measuring 4’ x 2’ which can be used for separation/acoustic control and can even be built into another 6’ x 7’ isolation booth in the live room.
CONSOLE
36 Channel Soundcraft Sapphyre
A great console is the hub of any studio. We chose the Soundcraft Sapphyre because of the features and sound it offers. Originally made in 1992 and costing in the region of £25,000 the Sapphyre was the last great recording board Soundcraft made. Our Sapphyre has been lovingly restored back to better than original specifications. The master section has been upgraded by the renowned Jim Williams of Audio Upgrades with top quality components. We have also modified the EQ on all channels to improve over the original design as recommended by Audio Upgrades. The master section, PSU and Buss board have also been totally re-capped with Panasonic FC, FM and Wima capacitors. All defective switches have been replaced as have all the faders. The desk was recently checked over by Tim Jones of Audio Systems, repairs made and given a clean bill of health.
The Sapphyre is quiet, clean and has flexible routing offering 84 inputs on mix down. High quality, reliable external bantam patchbays from Neutrik have been added and wired with Mogami cable. While perhaps not in the league of a £250,000 SSL or Neve we believe the Sapphyre is a truly professional console way above project studio desks such as the Mackie 8 Buss, Toft ATB or cheaper Soundcraft boards such as the Ghost both in sound and specifications.
